Scripture Text: 2 Kings 2:1-25
Estimated Date: 850 – 835 B.C.

Synopsis: Through this period of the divided kingdom, we begin to see a rise in the appearance of the prophets. The prophets gained greater stature in the eyes of the people and many of the kings. However, the prophets also suffered greatly at the hands of some kings. As Israel and Judah departed further from God, the message of repentance preached by the prophets became stronger.

  2. What happened when Elijah tried to leave Elisha behind? How many times did this happen?

  3. What was the message of the prophets to Elisha? What was his response?

  4. What did Elisha ask for? What would he have to do to get what he asked for?

  5. What show of disrespect was shown to Elijah by some small boys? What was the response? Why?
