Estimated Date: 841 – 796 B.C.

Synopsis: After the death of Ahaziah, his mother Athaliah took the throne. She destroyed all her grandsons in order to possess the throne, but through the providence of God, one of the sons was spared for the sake of the promise to David. That son, Joash, was a faithful king until the death of Jehoiada the priest. Like many today, he seemed to worship God only when a strong influence was present.
