Scripture Text: Nahum
Estimated Date: 697 – 642 B.C.

Synopsis: Nahum is one of the few prophets who speaks primarily to one of the Gentile nations and not to God’s people. He took a message of warning against Assyria for their pride and wickedness. Just as God had punished Israel by using Assyria, He would punish Assyria with another nation.

  1. Explain Nahum 1:2-3 and 1:6-8.

  2. Who would be exalted as Assyria would be humbled?

  3. Using an encyclopedia or other reference material, describe what happened to Assyria in general. What happened to Nineveh and what is the condition of Nineveh today?

  4. From your research, explain Nahum 3:1-4.

  5. According to Nahum, what would happen to Nineveh?
